Space Invaders is one extremely important game in the video game industry. Besides being a rad game, it's nearly as iconic as Mario. The alien motifs have been used in many pieces of contemporary art, including the famous graffiti artist, Space Invader. It defines 8 bit gaming in a way that Mario fails to. It's less distinct than its plumber brother, yet more definitive of an era. All this nostalgia and history within a handful of pixels.
These classic units from Space Invaders have been transformed into a incredible lamp. You too can have this lamp at the very (un)affordable price of $200. It's 120cm high and consists of a backlit LED light that's very energy efficient. Because its handmade, you're looking at a production time of 15 days from order date. Oh, and delivery cost to South Africa is €110. So um ja, maybe just steal the schematics and get Alfred to glue one together for you in the Batcave? With that amount of cash I'd rather light my lounge with the glow from one badass 42" TV. But that's just me.
claims its made of 100% iron, and this thing is a light, so I don't know if I can trust these people.
If you know of any techies who can whip one of these up, let me know. I'd love to get my hands on one! You know, a prop for the "GameZone TV set
". It's "for work
" and when I say "work
" I say it very loosely.
