Empire, the Internet’s top movie review site has listed what they think are
film’s 25 sexiest women. I know what you’re thinking, this is a gaming site, so what’s the relevance? It’s very relevant. So relevant in fact that a few of the women, including the number one, are video game characters or characters that appear prominently in comics and video games.
Yes, the expected fair of Keira Knightley from Pirates of the Carribean, Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct and Natalie Portman from Star Wars as Queen of Naboo are all present and representing, but there are some great video game representatives.
Ramona Flowers is present, and although not directly a video game, Scott Pilgrim vs The World is primarily influenced by games. She even got her own character in-game character.
I’m mildly disturbed by the inclusion of Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter, although Emma Watson is hot, her character is a high school girl in her teens. Either way, Emma’s character is in many Harry Potter games up until this point. She even has a Lego character after herself.
Kate Beckinsale’s character in Underworld, Selene, is also there. A lot of people forget she was in a rather rubbish-looking PS2 game called Underworld: The Eternal War.
Catwoman is sitting at number 3 and reminds me of the sexy Catwoman in the latest Batman Arkham City. Here, they’re referring to Michelle Pfeiffer’s character, one I think heavily influenced the game’s rendition of the character.
Amazingly (but not surprisingly) at number one we have Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft. I think it’s fair to say that if there was a poll of the hottest female characters in a game, she’d be up there, but just not number one, proving that games have hotter characters than films.
